We are a replant of Southside Baptist Church in partnership with Liberty Baptist Church in Chelsea. Quarry Church began when the members of Southside Baptist Church realized they needed help in order to fulfill God's calling. They reached out to the Shelby Baptist Association and decided to be "Replanted." A replant involves two churches coming together to partner for revitalization. A "Sending" church provides people, resources, and vision for the "Legacy" church, and the goal is to re-launch as a healthy, self-sufficient church in the future.
On May 5th, Liberty Baptist Church in Chelsea voted to become the "sending church" for what was then Southside Baptist Church, which voted on May 19, 2024 to officially enter the partnership with Liberty. And on June 2, we launched the replant.
1 Peter 2:4 says as we come to Jesus, we are "living stones" set into a spiritual house, like a place of worship for God. We're being built together to be His servants who offer ourselves in service to King Jesus. While it is true that we are geographically surrounded by a number of quarries in Alabaster and Calera, we want to be a spiritual house where anyone can come to be shaped by Jesus and set into His house.
